Thirteen TZHS Seniors Named Commended Students in National Competition

An additional 13 Tappan Zee High School seniors were also recently recognized in the 2026 National Merit® Scholarship Competition. Congratulations to SOCSD's Sofie Barsanti, Thomas Campanella, Jaywon Chae, Benjamin Delia, Freya Ferrari, Esther Hwang, Elise Kwon, Domenick Masiello, Grace Morrissey, Emma O'Keefe, Ferenc Vadasz, Julia Yager and Aara Yoon — named Commended students!

Of the 1.3 million entrants, these individuals contribute to more than two-thirds (34,000) of the high scorers (50,000) in the Competition. While they do not advance for Merit Scholarship® awards, Commended students may be considered for special scholarships sponsored by companies through the National Merit® Scholarship Corporation. Well done!
