TZHS Art Students Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America

Students in Tappan Zee High School Art Team Leader Donna Grasso’s 3-D Design 1, 3-D Design 2, Sculpture and Advanced Sculpture classes created 250 ceramic stars as part of a collaborative art project this spring. Each star was hand-formed from clay, glazed and fired before being installed in the art courtyard located between the 700 and C Hallways.

This project was inspired by and created to commemorate the United States Semiquincentennial, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence. “The installation celebrates this historic milestone while showcasing the creativity, craftsmanship and dedication of our student-artists,” said Grasso. “The collection of ceramic stars serves as a symbol of unity, patriotism and reflection on the nation’s history as we honor 250 years.”
