TZHS Computer Science Students Earn NCWIT Recognition

Tappan Zee High School computer science students Kiersten C. and Magdalena B. have been recognized by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) as part of the 2026 Aspirations in Computing Awards! Kiersten was awarded the Regional 2026 Award for Aspirations in Computing and Magdalena earned an NCWIT Regional Honorable Mention. The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC) honors students in grades 9-12 for their computing-related achievements and interests.

Kiersten, a junior, is an active member of the Computer Science Honor Society and is currently enrolled in the Computer Science Capstone class where she is tying her passion for medical research into computer science by studying how AI is utilized in the diagnostic process. She plans to major in Biochemistry and minor in Computer Science and she was also awarded the NCWIT 2025 Award for Aspirations in Computing.

Magdalena, a junior, is also a member of the Computer Science Honor Society and has taken several Computer Science and STEM courses during her time at TZHS. With a passion for technology and development, she intends to major in a STEM subject where she can use technological advancements to solve problems.
