TZHS STEM Honor Society Inducts 34 Members

The Tappan Zee High School Chapter of the National STEM Honor Society hosted their first induction ceremony on May 29!

“The TZ STEM Honor Society was founded to recognize and empower students who are passionate about exploring and advancing in the fields of science and technology. Our goal is to create an environment where curiosity is welcomed, innovation is encouraged and future leaders in STEM are nurtured,” said TZHS Technology teacher and adviser of the STEM Honor Society Nicholas Desantis. “Participation in the STEM Honor Society provides students with an opportunity to come together, inspire one another and continue pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics.”

The honor society officially launched this school year and to be considered for induction, students must meet the following criteria: maintain a minimum GPA of 88 in STEM-related courses and overall minimum GPA of 85, demonstrate active participation in STEM-related extracurricular activities (Maker Faire, Robotics Club, Code Con, Science Olympiad or Engineering Club) and exhibit strong leadership qualities, integrity and a commitment to service within the school and local community.
