Tappan Zee High School is proud to announce Lukas Witek as Class of 2026 Valedictorian and Jaywon Chae as Salutatorian! 

“It is with great honor and pride that I announce Lukas and Jaywon as our school's Valedictorian and Salutatorian for this academic year. These remarkable individuals have demonstrated exceptional dedication, academic excellence and leadership throughout their high school journey. The entire Tappan Zee High School community is so proud of Lukas and Jaywon for their outstanding achievements, serving as shining examples for us all. Their hard work, commitment and passion have not gone unnoticed,” said TZHS Principal Melissa Luciano. “Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!”

Lukas is a National Merit Scholarship Finalist, Vice President of the National Honor Society, Co-President of the History Honor Society, Co-President and co-founder of DECA, Vice President and co-founder of the Investment Club, Secretary of the Student Organization and a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, Science Olympiad and the Boys Varsity Tennis Team. As an esteemed violinist, Lukas participated in the Carnegie Hall National Youth Orchestra last summer and will participate again this summer. He is also part of the NY Youth Symphony and the BridgeMusik nonprofit, which focuses on bringing students, professional artists, families and communities together through affordable, high-quality music education and public performances across Rockland County and beyond. This fall, he will study Economics.

Jaywon is a member of the National Honor Society as well as Mu Alpha Theta, History and Computer Science honor societies. He is Co-President and co-founder of the Investment Club, Co-President and co-founder of DECA, Vice President of Science Olympiad, President of the Student Organization, a software and marketing lead for the SO BOTZ team and President of the Computer Science Club. Jaywon served as the first Ex-Officio Student Board Member for the 2025-26 school year. This fall, he will also major in Economics. 

In keeping with TZHS tradition, the valedictorian and salutatorian are each invited to deliver an address at their graduation ceremony.
