South Orangetown Central School District

Transportation

Transporting students to and from school safely every day is our top priority. South Orangetown’s Transportation Office ensures that buses meet all safety standards and that all drivers meet state and federal licensing and training requirements.

Transportation Handbook

Calls to the Transportation Office should be returned and emails should be acknowledged within one business day. However, please keep in mind that the two weeks before and the two weeks after the start of school are our busiest time. Additional staff will be added to help address immediate concerns during this period. However, for non-emergencies, please use email. For student-to-student or student discipline issues, please contact your child’s school directly.

Forgotten Items and General Questions

The South Orangetown Central School District does not own a bus fleet; it contracts with Student Bus, Peter Brega and Rockland BOCES. Forgotten items and general questions regarding the daily bus run may be directed to the bus companies:

  • Student Bus: (845) 359-9200
  • Peter Brega: (845) 268-6107
  • Rockland BOCES: (845) 627-4756

Non-Public School Transportation

To request transportation to a non-public school, a Request for Transportation to Private School Form, posted above under Forms/Materials for Parents, must be submitted to the Transportation Office by April 1 for the next school year.

South Orangetown Central School District will only provide transportation to non-public school students according to the SOCSD academic calendar. Please note: Transportation is not provided to out-of-district and non-public schools on snow days or days when Rockland BOCES is closed.

Information regarding inclement weather delays or cancellations is posted on the district homepage at www.socsd.org.
