South Orangetown Central School District

On July 13, the Board of Education held a special workshop to discuss its search to succeed Superintendent of Schools Robert Pritchard, Ed.D., who will retire on December 31, 2022. “The Board of Education is committed to designing and implementing a superintendent search process that is transparent and inclusive of our entire community,” said Board President Dana Stilley, Ph.D.

The Board is seeking to retain the services of an executive search firm to conduct the superintendent search process. A Request for Proposals will be issued shortly with a submission deadline of August 5.

It is anticipated that the Board will move the start time of its regular meeting on August 15 to 6:30PM and adjourn to Executive Session immediately following the public agenda for the purpose of reviewing proposals. The Board plans to convene in Executive Session on August 29 to interview selected firms with the intent to approve a firm to conduct the superintendent search process at the Board of Education meeting on September 8.

Once a firm has been retained, information regarding the search, including timeline and stakeholder participation, will be communicated to our South Orangetown students, staff, families and community.
