South Orangetown Central School District

Friday, February 10, marked the much-anticipated return of Tappan Zee High School’s Annual Senior Citizen’s Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance hosted by the Interact Club! Over 150 community members joined their friends in the TZHS cafeteria for a delicious meal and live music.

TZHS Interact Club Advisor Jillian Feygin, TZHS Math teacher Lisa Jacobs and TZHS Science teacher Nicole Lai worked alongside students to organize this year’s event. Interact Club President Alex M. and Vice President Sofia D. have been members of the Interact Club since they were in ninth grade and were eager to host the event again as twelve graders. “Since we helped run the event as freshmen, we knew everything that had to be done to organize the event like securing donations from local businesses and I think we did a great job of putting it all together,” said Alex. Sofia added, “It’s such a fun event to do and it’s a great way to give back to the community. I love being able to see them enjoy themselves.”

Guests were treated to performances by the TZHS Quartet Club and Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Orchestra Director Jonathan Rossi. The Interact Club also worked together with the Art Service Club and the Arts & Crafts Club to create a valentine-themed photo booth, complete with an instant polaroid camera so attendants could take their pictures home with them that night.

Thank you to all of the local businesses who donated food and raffle prizes for the event: Allie’s Bakery, Aunt Mia’s Sweets, Autumn Restaurant, Bailey’s Smokehouse, Books and Greetings, Burger Loft, Calabria, Cassies, Crecco’s Café, Cozy Nails, Del’ Arte, EZ Buy, Fiesta Mexico, Giovanni’s, Hogan’s Diner, Il Fresco, LuLu’s Café, Luxury Nails, Matisse Chocolatier, Munno’s Italian Deli, Nonna Rosa, Northvale Diner, Paesanos, Rockland Bakery, Schweizer & Dykstra Beautiful Flowers, Shoprite Northvale, Stella Luna, The Greek Village, The Mountain House, Tua Cucina and Wok King.
