Joseph Lloyd, PhD

At its June 15 meeting, the Board of Education approved the promotion of Joseph Lloyd, Ph.D. to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, effective July 1, 2023.

“Dr. Lloyd has been a great asset to the South Orangetown Central School District and his promotion is well-deserved,” said Interim Superintendent of Schools Ileana Eckert.

Since 2019, Lloyd has served as Director of Staff Relations and leads the District’s recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, tenure and job evaluation processes to maintain a highly-qualified and committed workforce, as well as the delivery of high quality, responsive employee support. He is a founder and co-chair of the District’s Equity Coalition and has worked to expand recruitment pipelines to attract diverse talent to the District and has been an organizer and participant in local and regional diversity job fairs. In addition, Lloyd serves as Recording Secretary and an Executive Committee member for the New York State Association of School Personnel Administrators (NYSASPA) as well as incoming Treasurer and Executive Committee member for the Lower Hudson Council of School Personnel Administrators (LHCSPA).

Prior to joining SOCSD, Lloyd was Principal at Sloatsburg Elementary School for five years. Previously, he spent seven years as an assistant principal and five years as a classroom teacher in the North Rockland Central School District. Lloyd holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from SUNY Albany, a Masters Degree in Literacy (K-12) from Adelphi University, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (K-6) and English (Grades 7-9) from SUNY Cortland and permanent New York State certifications for School District Administration and School Administration and Supervision.
