William O. Schaefer Elementary School welcomed Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel, the voice of Disney’s “Frozen,” and writer and teacher Cara Mentzel as they presented their newest lyrical picture book, “Proud Mouse” this morning!

Our K-2 students participated in school-wide assemblies as sisters Idina and Cara read-aloud their second children’s book, which was just released today. Illustrated by Jaclyn Sinquett, “Proud Mouse” tells the story of a proud sister finding her own way. “Their book is a wonderful story about celebrating the things that make you who you are and having the confidence to stand loud and proud! This book ties beautifully into our Character Education program. We are grateful to the SOCES PTA and Books and Greetings for making this possible for our students,” said WOS Principal Sheila Beglin. This afternoon, Books and Greetings will be hosting a meet and greet with Mendel and Mentzel.

Students eagerly followed along with the story of sisters Cara Lee and Dee before co-authors Idina and Cara guided them through a sing-along of original music that is incorporated into the book!
