Tappan Zee High School seniors Jake Ciorra, Kierra Kim, Morimichi Kawasaki and Jake Preble have been recognized as 2024 National Merit Scholarship Commended Students for their performance on the Fall 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
“On behalf of the Tappan Zee community, congratulations to our Commended Students! You have made us extremely proud,” said Principal Melissa Luciano.
More than two-thirds of the highest scorers (roughly 34,000 students) among the 1.3 million PSAT/NMSQT entrants were designated Commended Students this year in recognition of their outstanding ability and potential for academic success in college.
Commended Students are named based on a nationally applied Selection Index qualifying score. Although they do not advance in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended Students may be candidates for special scholarships sponsored by companies through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Congratulations to our Commended Students!
