Student leaders at William O. Schaefer Elementary School had their first meetings of the school year on Wednesday!

Advisors Robin Courtwright and Shannon Bogart kicked off the meeting with first grade student leaders by having them introduce themselves and talk with a partner to learn more about each other. Courtwright then asked students if they could explain what the student leaders at WOS are responsible for. Students said their responsibility is to make the school a better place, help new students and that when someone isn’t doing the right thing, they should remind them.

WOS Student leaders meet once a month to discuss upcoming projects including their annual Socktober collection for the Nyack Homeless Project. “It’s your job to share important information that we discussed here by reporting back to your classmates and teachers during your morning meeting,” explained Courtwright. One of their first tasks is to create a poster for their classroom to remind students that every Friday, WOS hosts “Spirit Wear Friday” and that students should wear WOS spirit wear or red and white.
