English Honor Society Induction
Last Thursday, 37 juniors and seniors were inducted into Tappan Zee High School’s English Honor Society!

EHS Advisor Sarah McMane kicked off the ceremony before handing it over to the five EHS officers: Treasurer Hela G., Secretary Clare M., Co-Vice President Justin J., Co-Vice President Madeline W. and President Anastasia A. Each officer spoke about a book that was meaningful to them and why including “The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger, “I Wish You All the Best” by Mason Deaver, “Dinosaurs Before Dark” by Mary Pope Osborne, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky and “Call of the Wild” by Jack London.

Founded in 2003, the TZHS EHS confers distinction for high achievement in English language and literature. The society aims to serve society by fostering literacy through providing cultural stimulation in the forms of lectures, debates and performances. Members of the English Honor Society are juniors and seniors who have exhibited high standards of excellence in their English classes, published a piece of writing on the school, state, or national level, completed community service in English/Language Arts and received the recommendation of at least one English teacher.
