The South Orangetown community came together tonight to celebrate the 2023 TZ Boys Varsity Basketball Team for their historic Class A New York State Championship win.
During a brief ceremony between the Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball games, the championship banner was unfurled and rings were distributed to 2023 season players, coaches and administrators. Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics Bill Pilla remarked upon the selflessness and deep connection among teammates and coaches.
“This is a group of homegrown kids from our community. They grew up on our elementary school fields and courts…and they were the first in Rockland County history to win a state championship,” said TZ Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach George Gaine.
