Natalie Espinal

At its March 7 meeting, the Board of Education approved the appointment of Natalie Espinal as Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations, effective July 1, 2024. Espinal will directly oversee the district’s fiscal affairs, as well as Facilities and Maintenance; Food Services, Safety, Security and Compliance; and, Transportation. She will replace Interim School Business Administrator Greg Kern, whose contract ends June 30.

“Natalie is a collaborative, mission-driven leader who focuses on students first,” said Superintendent of Schools Brian Culot, Ed.D. “Natalie is experienced and knowledgeable in school finance, capital projects, food services, transportation and operations. She will be a tremendous asset to our team as we develop our District’s financial, capital, and instructional plans to chart a path towards SOCSD’s North Star. We are excited to welcome Natalie to our wonderful school community!”

A Certified Public Accountant, Espinal has served as Assistant Superintendent for Business in the East Ramapo Central School District since 2022. In this role, she leads all business and operations functions for the district and oversees a $300 million general budget, as well as capital projects totaling $125 million. Espinal joined East Ramapo in 2021 as Supervisor of Fiscal Services/Treasurer. Her previous positions include Accountant III at the Rockland County Department of Health, Accounting Manager at ARC of Westchester and Assistant Controller for the Anti-Defamation League Foundation. She began her career as an auditor in the private sector.

Espinal, who is bilingual, holds a bachelor of business administration degree in Accounting from Bernard Baruch College and a School District Business Leader certificate.
