Finalist Alliance at HVR 2024

Congratulations to Tappan Zee High School’s SO BOTZ for earning silver medals as the 2024 Hudson Valley FIRST Robotics Competition Regional Finalists last weekend!

Despite a tough start, Team 6911 staged a remarkable comeback over the course of the two-day competition and was selected to compete on the sixth-seeded alliance for the playoffs. Alliance 6, captained by Team 20 – The Rocketeers (Clifton Park, NY) and including Team 287 – Floyd Robotics (Brookhaven, NY) and Team 3950 – RoboGym (Glen Head, NY), powered through the double-elimination playoff rounds undefeated before falling to the top-seeded alliance in the finals.

Drive team members Molly C. (Coach), Louis F. (Technician), Calum T. (Operator), Dylan O. (Driver) and Jack S. (Human Player)–as well as alternate drive team members Jack P. (Driver) and Cassidy N. (Coach)–did an outstanding job in terms of strategy, scoring and defense.

Fielding a competitive, industrial-sized robot is a school year-long, team effort which encompasses engineering, computer science, fundraising, communications and outreach. Once again, congratulations to all of SO BOTZ’s 50+ members, mentors, sponsors and faculty advisors Karen Connell, Barbara Murphy and Patty Eyer…and good luck at the Tech Valley Regional next week!
