This evening, families gathered for a night of fun, STEM inspired activities during the annual K-5 Family Technology Night at Cottage Lane Elementary School! Elementary teachers and students from Tappan Zee High School hosted a variety of hands-on activities inspired by the technology and engineering curriculum that allowed students to experiment, build and problem-solve.
Students rotated between stations featuring Sphero Robots, Snap Circuits, Dash Robots, light-up paper circuits, Strawbees, brush bots and Lego challenges. The TZHS Computer Science Club hosted a “code dance party” and the FIRST Robotics Team, SO BOTZ, brought robots for driving and ball-shooting practice.
“The purpose of Technology Night is to bring families into our schools to show them some of the great work that our teachers are doing around STEM,” explained K-12 Instructional Coach Marc Eckert, who organized the annual event. “Families have the opportunity to work as partners with their children during these activities and take home some really cool projects!”
