Congratulations to Tappan Zee High School varsity student-athletes and coaches: ALL Fall 2022 teams qualified as New York State Public High School Athletics Association Scholar-Athlete Teams!
“We are incredibly proud that all of our fall teams have earned NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team designation for a second consecutive year,” said Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics Director Bill Pilla. “Participation in athletics develops key skills and attributes that help student-athletes achieve success beyond the field or court: dedication, accountability, resilience, teamwork and time management. Our athletes are students first and this recognition is a tribute to their commitment to excelling in the classroom.”
The NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team honor which recognizes student-athletes, teams and schools for academic excellence. To receive Scholar-Athlete Team recognition, at least 75% of each team’s roster must have a GPA of 90 or higher.
Tappan Zee High School was named a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete School of Excellence in 2022 and earned the Scholar Athlete Team School Distinction Award for academic excellence in 2021.
