The Tappan Zee High School Music Department proudly announces that four students have been recognized by the New York State School Music Association as eligible for the 2023 New York All-State Music Festival. Juniors Aaron Pakola (violin) and Nate Prisco (French horn) were selected to perform with the All-State Symphony Orchestra. Seniors Angelique Cerbolles (vocal) and Kierra Kim (cello) were chosen as alternates.

“In-person auditions for All-State ensembles took place last spring. As in years past, the auditions were highly competitive, with thousands of students participating from across the entire state of New York,” noted TZHS Music Department Team Leader Bill Hughes. “Of these, approximately 250 musicians were selected for the All-State Festival. Our students all performed level VI works–the highest level of difficulty–received a score from 99 to 100 and were ranked near the top of their instrumental category.”

Invited students will attend the festival in Rochester from November 30 through December 3, where they will rehearse up to eight hours a day with some of America’s most renowned conductors. The final performances will be held in the Eastman Theater, one of the finest concert halls in the nation.

Congratulations to Aaron, Nate, Angelique, Kierra and the entire SOCSD music faculty!
