Continuing Education

The South Orangetown Central School District offers a variety of continuing education programs that promote lifelong learning and personal enrichment for community members of all ages. Course catalogs are published. twice annually.

Spring Virtual Driver’s Education Course
Meets April 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28; May 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26; June 2, 7 | 4:00-5:30PM

This program will allow your child to obtain their senior license at the age of 17, provided they complete the class successfully. Students are required to attend all 16 lecture classes, complete all schoolwork, homework, return completed driving log and driving checklist at the end of the class in order to receive the Certificate of Completion. Due to COVID, State Ed and DMV have changed the regulations to allow the lecture class to be held virtually and allow parents to provide the students with the 24 hours of in-car instruction (lab portion). The 24 hours of driving is in addition to the DMV 50-hour driving log that must be given to the examiner at the time of the road test. This course includes the required 5-hour pre-licensing course.
